The Avon Sail House has been in business for 9 years on Cape Hatteras, Outer Banks, North Carolina. Owned and operated by Margaret Nold and Olaf Podehl, the Avon Sail House is located on Highway 12 at North Kinnakeet Drive-- it is the first commercial enterprise on the ocean-side as one drives into Avon from the north... look left!
The shop features exceptional windsurfing equipment for the discerning customer. The brands of equipment are that which we believe to be superior for performance, high strength-to-weight ratio, simplicity and aesthetics. We sail it; we sell it, and yes: it looks good! Demos are available from the shop during the wind seasons (Spring and Fall). Gear may be purchased year-round: visit our shop in season, or contact for shipping.

Likewise, for the last 6 summers in the Gorge, we have had the pleasure and education of working with Simmer sail designer, Jason Diffin, with whom we have learned to pattern, build, then sail the prototypes created from mutual imput and Jason's leading-edge designs . It has done nothing but impress us all the more with the meticulous attention and detail which goes into fabricating the beautiful wings between the booms we call sails.
